How to Prepare Your Home for a Chimney Cleaning Service

1. No Fires for 24 Hours Before
We need the chimney completely cool. Skip the fire the evening before your appointment so embers and soot have time to fully cool and settle.
2. Clear the Hearth Area
Remove decorative items, screens, glass doors (if removable), tools, and rugs from a 6-foot radius around the fireplace. The clearer the workspace, the faster the job.
3. Move Nearby Furniture
We bring drop cloths, but moving lightweight furniture and electronics 8 feet away protects your belongings from any incidental dust.
4. Cover Sensitive Items
If you have valuable artwork, books, or electronics in the same room, cover them with a sheet. Our HEPA equipment captures the vast majority of particulates, but extra precaution doesn't hurt.
5. Plan for Pets and Kids
Equipment, doors propped open, and unfamiliar people make the home feel different. Plan to keep pets and small children in another room during service.
Five minutes of preparation makes the difference between a smooth, fast service and a stressful one.
